Campfire Audio Holocene earphone review – Glowing Audio Essence
Clearly these are not your standard everyday affair, as you would expect from Ken, Callum and his team of obedient audio engineers. The sound character is well balanced, without a heavy weighted dominant sound frequency style, lending to a very calibrated balanced sound.
Care has been taken to keep everything where it needs to be, in check. What you get is a non forceful sound size style that has a a reference linear style with a core focus on detail, transparency and resolution.
As expected the bass character is not heavily emphasised but with enough presence to compliment this style of tunning.
The 3D printed recent revolution and wider use in the Audiophile industry certainly helps to give more control over the precision of airflow dynamics.
With this reference tuning, you can certainly see the producer and monitoring audience demographic attracted to the Campfire Audio Holocene in ear monitor earphone.
Detail and resolution is precise and well controlled, don’t expect the level of microdetail you would get from a Shure KSE1500 but the Holocene’s at this lower mid tier price point, is in the upper performance range of technicality compared to it’s equally priced competitors.
