Campfire Audio Holocene earphone review – Glowing Audio Essence
Fast but not overly energetic like some other earphones. Campfire’s Glowing shells transition effortlessly and can navigate gracefully with expert movement.
I am a fan of the reserved liner tuning earphone sound style, so the Holocene’s aligned frequency character is a welcome addition to the already vast collage of soundscapes in the Campfire Line-up.
The 3 balanced armatures compliment each other, providing excellent imaging and transparency. Range bracket transition smooth, without any perceivable overlap range bleed.
Slight smoothness is present in the midrange and that adds a richness to the intimacy of live vocals, especially female vocals.
Instrument positioning is well managed, especially when it comes to acoustic instruments and live masterings.
Classical music works extremely well with the Holocene and deliver a natural emotional flow of musical essence.
Sometimes reference style signatures fail when it comes to the upper region and end up being harsh, spiky or sibilant. Fortunately the Holocene earphones do not suffer this fate and the treble is clean with excellent crisp clarity.
