Pros

We paired the DX120 with a number of earphones and the power was sufficient to drive everything we tested it with.

The Campfire Atlas earphone had a particularly solid synergy with expansive staging and beautiful upper region sparkly.

We did notice some hiss on especially sensitive earphones but for the most part the signatures had nice clean backgrounds.

Using the line out was perfect as an input for driving our favourite micro detail earphone – the KSE1500, an added bonus was the perfect size match on the stack.

Scaling and control is awesome and I suspect the rig will stay stacked for sometime.

With the coaxial out using the DX120 with the Hugo 2 was also an excellent pairing both in terms of signature and size profile.

Conclusion

The team at earphonia.com can completely recommend the DX120 from iBasso Audio, they have produced quite a package for the price.

While other manufacturers have been driving towards streaming and wireless components, iBasso have gone back to their roots as engineers and technical experts.

Striving to get clean high quality audio to fans at extremely reasonable prices. I can’t think of another Dap on the market at this price point that can compete for sheer musicality, price and performance.

Add to that the awesome design style, fast OS, UI, quick charge, multiple ports and compact nature, the DX120 ticks all the boxes! I suspect this will be a strong seller and hopefully can introduce a wider audience to the classic iBasso Audio signature sound style.
