The packaging has an outer sleeve showing off the bold see through shells design style. There is a ‘V2’ circle sticker indicating these are not the earlier Velvet release. The bottom right has the french flag proudly showing off the ‘Made In France’ build status of these attractive looking in ear monitors.

A strong cardboard case with a magnetic flip top lid holds the EarSonics delights inside.

A note from the CEO Franck Lopez is there in french along with appreciation ( ‘Merci’) for your excellent purchase choice.  Two transparent circles at the top of the box show off the intricate see through shells.

Upon lifting the card the full package is revealed – 2 Pairs Comply Tips, 4 Pairs of Stock supplied tips (2 Bi-flange, 2 Standard) , Cleaning tool, Tuning Tool, Carry case,  Tuning Guide card, Earphones, 2 Pin replaceable 3.5mm cable, 3.5mm to 6.35mm gold style adapter.earphonia.com review of the EarSonics Velvet V2 Crystal Earphone

It’s apparent that EarSonics are especially proud of their level of workmanship and engineering precision. Showing off all the internals of the Velvet V2 by only providing one Crystal clear shell colour choice.  Every angle, contour, driver position  has been given care and precise attention, resulting in a very attractive overall appearance.  In person these are even more impressive than the pictures convey. I am usually a dark obsidian shell style fan (FitEar 334 style) but in this instance I am happy with the clear transparent design of these earphone shells.

The screw tune dial is nicely set back and expertly mounted on the new impressive looking black electronic board. Changing the dial is easy and clear to  identify which of the 3 signature styles have been selected.

One improvement I would suggest going forward is as the nozzles are smooth throughout you need to ensure the tips are tight when attached to ensure they do not come off easily. This could easily be rectified if the nozzles had raised ridges on them to secure the tip more, like the Sony XBA-Z5 has.  Having said that the majority of tips I used stayed on securely.

The shells are surprisingly light in terms of weight and with the correct cable choice you hardly notice they are even there when on the move.

As the shell style is a relatively standard type design the fit should be excellent for most people out there, as these are a very compact size.

The supplied cable is a 3.5mm single ended with 2 PIN connection. The braiding is tight and these have a flexible feel, silver grey in design (not the most attractive cable colour IMO) and similar to the Jomo Audio PLB stock cable. A transparent chin slider is present to help secure the cables for those who like to use chin sliders.

These have a right angled jack which has a tight fitting connector as well as reinforcement to help stop any breaks due to over flexing.

We experienced no microphonics or drop outs with this cable. The right angle jack was tight fitting and secure with all the players/sources we tried.

The addition of memory wire to the top of the cables ensured further precision on the fit helping to achieve a well positioned fit and excellent angle for seal, helping with fullness of signature rendition.

In terms of overall package we feel the carry case is a little too soft for proper transport protection.  The tip selection choice supplied is varied and the cable is well suited to the Velvet V2 earphones.

  • How would you compare the bass with Sony XBA-Z5?

    • Bass is not as full as the XBA-Z5 but feels to have better texturing aspects.

  • Which over-ear Headphone would equate to Earsonics velvet? DT880 ? DT990? T1? K702? K701? or?

    • Unfortunately we haven’t experienced the over-ear Headphone models you mentioned so are unable to provide a comparison currently. If we get a chance to sample them we will let you know which is similar. Thanks

  • Do you have idea for change stock cable ?, what cable I must buy?.

    Thanks

    • Effect Audio Ares II and II plus work well and are good value. Also the PW Audio range is excellent value. Both have decent synergies with the EarSonics products we have sampled.
