Pros

  • Impressive packaging and selection of tuning options
  • Compact size and form factor fit. Flc8s is lightweight and comfortable in the ear
  • A variety of well tuned options and solid bass impact. The sound is excellent for a lower to mid-priced IEM

Cons

  • That cable even though its been upgraded since the Flc8 the cable is still to springy and tangle prone.
  • The filters although excellent are too small and fiddly to keep changing

Build Quality/Design/Ergonomics

Onto the build quality of the Flc8s they are extremely compact with a slightly long nozzle the design is in keeping with many iems currently on the market, fitment wise they are very lightweight so should not prove to be difficult to wear or offer discomfort.

Build quality is fairly robust for a plastic housing that almost feels like an alloy finish due to the colour used.

In my opinion I felt that the lightweight feel to these iem helped seating within the ear canal however I don’t think these would stay seated if jogging or knocked slightly.

The cable whilst being made to a good standard with a right angled 3.5mm plug, the actual cable has a tangle prone characteristic due to its tight weave and in turn gives a lot of noise (microphonics) whilst wearing.

Whilst completing this review I used my trusty Lg v20, I also used an assortment of daps also.

Sound Signature

The Flc8s in my preferred config allows the sub bass to be fairly deep without being boomy, or wallowing, the sub bass extends slightly into the mid-range allowing an evenly distributed weight to proceedings.

The bass from the FLc8s dynamic driver is the low-end is shaped by both the sub-bass filter and the bass filter and I found that I enjoyed the black sub-bass filter.

I found with the black sub bass filter the bass was controlled and not squashed, or muffled it had an even distribution with a fairly forceful impact.

Lower mids are not shaped by any of the filters the good news is I didn’t hear any bleed into the lower mids or this was very minimal. The mids are full of detail lending itself nicely into the treble where both the Mids and treble work in harmony with each other to give the appearance of an airy and fairly detailed sound although not the widest soundstage.

The Flc8s are perhaps one of the best iems I have heard in this price bracket for detail precision, with both female and male vocals both George Michael and Enya sounded excellent whilst using these Iems.

The soundstage of the Flc8s is perhaps not the widest but overall the imaging is excellent the sound is just past you shoulders as such, with the sound floating in its airy presentation.

My conclusion are the FLC8 earphones really are excellent value, with a very unique tuning system that provides many options to cater for all manner of tastes. This coupled with the large selection of tips and solid transport case. makes these earphones a welcome addition to your collection.
